He has been drawing all the time, basically women, but the most important was that he has been inventing clothes for them. At thirteen-year age Avtandil decided that time has come to make a reality of his sketches. Since that day his mother has been wearing clothes made by her son's sketches and later made by Avtandil himself. So, she became his first client, and child's hobby became his life-work. The young man graduated from the Academy of Arts of Georgia and passed training at the House of Gucci.
The first step of designer Avtandil Tskvitinidze was participation in the young designers' competition at the Assembly of Avant-garde Fashion "AMA" in Tbilisi in 1995, where he became a prize-winner. In 1996, the young designer won Grand prix at the Festival of Caucasus Designers in Baku.
His success was not set aside and in 1999, Avtandil Tskvitinidze was offered a job at the factory of "Imereti" in the city of Kutaisi. Here, he designed his first prot-a-porter clothing, which has been presented in Tbilisi at the Sheraton Metechi Palace on December 10, 1999. His activity has been recognized as a first step in revival of light industry in Georgia.
It is worthy to notice that the aforementioned fashion show was the official opening ceremony for designer's company "Avtandil Tskvitinidze". Working in prot-a-porter, Avtandil Tskvitinidze has developed one more fashion line. For the first time in Georgia, the collection of youth jeans sportswear was put on the market under the "AVTANDIL" trade mark.
After buying the controlling interest of the "Imereti" JSC Kutaisi, Georgia - the tailor's factory reequipped according to the world standards, the company "Avtandil Tskvitinidze" started with batch production of prot-a-porter and jeans sportswear. The aforementioned production is refreshed seasonally according to the world tendencies in fashion and is sold both in Georgia and Caucasus. Original accessories are always handicraft done according to Avtandil Tskvitinidze's sketches. The most often these are stylish combination of leather, fur and textiles with beads and natural stones.

"There 30 models in the collection. They are mostly knitted with bead embroidery and silk drawings. Who is Avtandil's muse? She is an orient queen: an arrogant beauty, an open glare, a regal bearing. Ethnic motifs of the collection have serious support from incredibly beautiful accessories (knitted belts and necklaces with gems and metals of antique origin, folk headgears to underline individuality of Avtandil's woman). Gypsy motifs are in the wide range of colors and materials. Rich colors are made even brighter due to the Southern charm of different structures silk, satin, cotton, knitwear. The shoes does correspond to the models (they are bright, on a platform, built by the designer himself."
Daily newspaper of RFW "The collection by Avtandil Tskvitinidze turned out to be beautiful and laborious. No doubt, it's excellent in color - black items with almost invisible pink trimming, pale blue and brown, pink with gray and chocolate. Laces over wool fabrics plus velvet, satin, fur. His collection leaves the impression of thoughtful and cultural design, love of detail, color and material. Georgia, with its tradition of colorful prints, has a rich culture, You can discover it in the craftwork of the designer Avtandil.."
Suzy Menkes In 2004, at the Russian Fashion Week (RFW) in Moscow, Avtandil Tskvitinidze showed his autumn-winter collection "Loneliness". The collection is made in soft color spectrum. Unexpected constructive decisions allow combining natural fur "Saga Furs', Scandinavia" with velvet, atlas, velveteen and taffeta; use of elastic band allows to give soft femininity to a silhouette. Volume rose application on the back-side of some goods and large buttons made from fabric emphasize individuality of his collection. Especially for this collection, Avtandil Tskvitinidze has made a number of accessories by "AVTANDIL".
Kommersant, April 2004 "Variety of my collections reflects my state of mind, sometimes black-and-white, sometimes chaotically motley. I work to emphasize essence of the woman at one moment gentle, at another aggressive... "
